Catering to children aged 2-5, our Baby Ballerina program will help your child take their first steps towards a lasting love of dancing. The program focuses on creativity, timing, musical appreciation, and basic movement – rather than the more advanced and technical elements associated with ballet. Parents are more than welcome to watch our classes.
Adhering to both the ACID and RAD syllabi, our Lake Macquarie ballet instructors run inclusive, fun and rewarding lessons. They will teach the key fundamentals – including grace, coordination, beautiful posture, musical awareness and confidence. These skills will help students advance in other areas of dance in leaps and bounds.

Jazz remains one of our most popular dance genre programs, and it’s easy to see why. The classes are energetic as well as versatile, with students being given the opportunity to dance to the latest hits. Our jazz teachers work from the Comdance Modern Jazz Syllabus to achieve the best results. The lessons cover coordination, correct alignment, and other key jazz dance techniques.
Although a great performer may make it look easy, tap is one of the most challenging (and rewarding) genres of dance to learn. Our teachers can teach key tap dance skills to students of virtually all ages – working from the PDA Unique Technique Syllabus. Tap is great for those who want to truly express themselves through dance, as well as those who love a unique technical challenge.
Developed as a reaction against the ‘rigid’ approach of ballet, contemporary dance is all about versatility and working with the body’s natural energy. Our contemporary dance classes focus on fluidity of movement, as well as encouraging learners to develop their own unique style. The contemporary dance lessons we facilitate are accompanied by an eclectic range of music.
Our troupe lessons offer a great way for students to learn key dance coordination and timing skills while making new friends along the way. We choreograph troupe routines that are performed at competitions and special events. Our performers love to be a part of a hardworking team. We’re sure you or your child will love it too.
Our hip hop classes are energetic, eclectic and great fun. Students are taught all the essential moves that characterise the genre, including breaking, locking, and popping. Our teachers are passionate about hip hop dance and will work closely with your child, ensuring they develop new skills at their own pace. Get in touch today to find out more.
Our acrobatics classes will impart skills that will benefit you and/or your child in various ways. We emphasise balance, coordination, agility and correct posture. Rest assured, we always put safety first. Our acrobatics teachers are passionate about challenging students, helping them push their limits and establish a greater appreciation of the mind-body connection.
Parents are welcome to watch our morning Baby Ballerina classes every week. For students in our older class, we have open days where we invite family to come and watch. Invitations are sent home a few weeks before to let you know when you are welcome to come watch.
Many of our classes run more than once a week so you may be able to do a make-up class on a different day. Please ask the staff in our office if this is available for your child's class.
Apart from our adult classes, which are drop-in classes, we keep class sizes limited to ensure a high-quality class experience for your child. Therefore, we ask all Studi-O and Baby Ballerina families to enrol for the year as we do not offer casual classes. This way you and your child will meet the same friendly faces at class each week and begin to develop beautiful friendships with those around you! Children thrive from routine and structure, and we like to offer this each week in dance class. We do, however, offer make-up classes if you are unable to attend your scheduled dance class. Please see our friendly staff in the office to find out more.
Yes, we do, all students are required to use sanitiser during classes. Parents will be required to scan a check in code upon entry. If your child is sick, or they have attended an area where a COVID outbreak has recently happened, we ask they do not attend classes.
Yes, we have our own car park. We also have a drop and go zone. Drop-off and pick-ups can be very busy in the afternoons, so we ask that you are patient, observe the speed limit and respect our neighbours by not blocking access to their property.
All dance exams are completely optional and up to the individual dancer and his/her parents. Exams are, however, beneficial for both students and parents. Exams give you an idea of how your child is progressing against international standards. They also give your child a standard to aim for, which helps them prepare for school exams in a fun way.
